Walk Your Own Way

For every fork in the road, there are often two paths from which to choose: the one you “should” take and the one you want to take. Take the second. Always take the second. –Mike Dooley

I think back on all the times in my life when I did not heed this advice.

And then I think again about all of the times I did 🙂

And what I can say now is that the path to “should” is never as interesting, never as fulfilling and never as expected.

And if you are one of the lucky ones, you will turn back, praying you have enough time and energy for a do-over.

So I guess what I’m saying is, don’t waste another second on the road to someone else’s dreams. Don’t do what you think you should do or what others expect you to do. Take your life seriously enough to walk your own way. It might be lonely at first, but you will find others along the path to what your heart truly desires and those people will “get” you like you were born to them. Not only will they understand you, but they will support you and cheer you on knowing that your path is ordained and sacred, what you came here to do.
